Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs)

 
In addition to achieving the academic knowledge necessary to prepare students for post-secondary education and the world of work, ESLRs represent what all of our students should know and be able to do upon graduation.
 
1. Communicate Effectively
 
They, for example…
·        Will achieve and demonstrate awareness of body language (facial features, posture, etc.) appropriate for communication and responose to others in a formal and informal setting.
·        Will initiate and respond in conversation using appropriate verbal prompts to signify the needs at hand (I feel, I need, It bothers me when...)
·        Will identify and actively seek mehtods of positive communication to counter inappropriate methods of communication as identified per individual using tools that are provided by support staff.
 
 
2. Demonstrate Academic Competency
 
They, for example…
·        Will demonstrate awareness of their annual academic goals in the appropriate capacity.
·        Will complete applied academic functions based on their annual academic goals.
·        Will be utilized by support staff in order to complete job awareness services and provide career goals based on age and interest.
 
 
 
3. Solve Problems and Make Decisions
 
They, for example…
·        Will identify the problem.
·        Based on the stated problem, appropriate analysis will be implemented by the student
  1. What is the proper approach to the problem?
  2. What methods can be used to solve the problem?
  3. What risks are involved with the possible approaches to the problem?
  4. What is best for everyone involved?
·        Based on analysis of the problem, the student will choose a response that leads to the best outcome and...

      ·        The student will implement the decision.

 
 
4. Socially Responsible and Productive Member of Society
 
The previous three ESLR's are applied through several avenues including workability and afternoon electives in order to provide the students with patterns of interaction needed in order to establish and maintain a productive standing in society.  The students will:

·        Learn how to interact with employers
·        Learn how to fill out the necessary paperwork for services and employment
·        Experience budgeting and money management
·        Hold positions in repectable businesses in the community
·        Learn teamwork and positive thinking
·        Experience scenarios in a controlled environment in which positive decision making is applied
