Aldar Academy

Aldar Academy’s level system is a behavioral management approach that has been created by a multi-disciplinary team of educators and mental health professionals to accommodate the specific goals of each student in accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Our behavioral management program is utilized with students that exhibit challenging behavior. Aldar Academy’s level system was designed to create a fair and equitable organizational structure for managing student behavior. Our behavioral program works in accordance with the State Department, specifically the Hughes Bill. Aldar Academy students learn appropriate behavior through clearly defined behavioral expectations, constructive/regular feedback, self-monitoring/self-reporting, appropriate positive role model relationships, social skills training from established curriculum with mental health support, 1:1 counseling (each student is assigned to at least one mental health counselor) and active behavioral management utilizing therapeutic responses as well as weekly privileges, rewards, and consequences related to expectations. Specific established criteria for weekly advancement to the appropriate level where the student can enjoy positive rewards for increased positive behavior. The vision of Aldar Academy supports the ideology that as students grow they are better able to self-regulate their emotions and their behaviors, leaving them capable of handling more responsibility, therefore enjoying greater independence.

There are four main cornerstones the support the Aldar Academy level system:

1. Promote academic achievement (supports Aldar Academy ESLR  “Demonstrate Academic Competency”)

2. Increase appropriate behavior (supports Aldar Academy ESLR  “Socially Responsible and Productive Member of Society)

3. Increase student improvement through self-regulation (supports Aldar Academy ESLR  “Solve problems and make decisions”)

4. Develop personal responsibility for social, emotional, and academic performance (supports Aldar Academy ESLR  “Communicate Effectively)
